Intel Quick Sync Video (QSV)

QSV was tested on an Ivy Bridge i5 and Kaby Lake i7, and almost doubled the performance of CPU decoding, and at the same time frees up CPU resources.

 

Nvidia GeForce GTX1080

There is a driver limitation which only allows 2 simultaneous video decoding. Quick Sync Video on a modern Intel processor still outperforms the decoding speed.

 

AMD Radeon HD7850

This graphics card was paired with the i5-3570K PC when both were introduced in 2012. This card comes with Unified Video Decoder (UVD) 4.0, which supports H.264 decoding. The CPU with Quick Sync Video outperform this card in terms of decoding.
